CONNECTOR FOR AN ELECTRONICS CUSTOMER

PROBLEMS FACED

A customer specialising in the manufacture of electronic products required a twin-impression injection mould tool with two side cores. Due to their production schedules this was required in less than eight weeks. Outsourcing manufacture to a traditional supplier in the Far East was impractical, as lead-times were in excess of 12 weeks.

SOLUTIONS TO THE PROBLEMS

By using our Hybrid Metal Additive Manufacturing and in-house CNC machining facilities we were able to build a high-quality production injection mould tool set, combining standard bolster and tool parts with customer laser sintered inserts. The result, from initial order to tool manufacture and sample injection moulded parts was under eight weeks.
